Technolama 2 - Spiritual Tech by Discovery Sound

Made another demo using the Technolama Sample CD available at Discovery Sound, Loopmasters, and Big Fish Audio. If you are into old school techno then this a must have classic in any DJ or producer's arsenal of sound.

Though personally I have grown out of the techno crave, it is still fun to mix with and "loop around" every now and then.

8 Bit Family Sample CD Sneakers

Do you remember all those pings, bongs, and tweaks in the old 8 Bit video games? Well over here at Discovery we took all those classic sounds and made the 8 Bit Family series sample CDs. Both of the CDs have been best sellers year after year.

Now I have decided to make a pair of shoes from those awesome 8 Bit characters that really made the sample CD series take off.

Shamisen Meets Hip Hop

Demo made by Sound Engineer Shigehiro Ito using the Shamisen sampling CD with some Hip-Hop beats and sound effects to really demonstrate the versatility of the Japanese ethnic instrument's capabilities.

The Shamisen sample cd has 106 Acid/Wav tracks and 106 Rex2 files full of different bpm and playing patterns.

The sample CD Tuva Khoomei is now available for download on Loopmasters. The download is packed with the Tuva native throat singing, Khoomei, native string instruments like the Doshpuluur and the Igil, and many more hard to find samples unless you are planning to take a trip to Tuva anytime soon.

Tuvan Sounds on the disc:

KHOOMEI :
A type of throat singing with a distinct fundamental and an overtone melody, used in folk music from Tuva.

DOSHPULUUR :
A three-stringed instrument with fretless similar to a banjo, but with the warm, organic sound of wood and goat skin.

IGIL :
A two-stringed, bowed and fretless instrument. Deeply connected with the mythology of the horse, the most important animal in Tuvan culture. The Igil sounds like a cross between violin and cello, and is often used to imitate the sound and rhythms of the horse.

BigFishAudio.com Gets a New Look

Big Fish Audio (BFA) is one of my biggest distributors in the U.S. and are constantly updating their website to provide the latest and greatest from the sampling world. Recently the site has taken a whole new overhaul and if I might say a step in the right direction. The website is a lot easier to navigate and the the layout has improved 10 fold. I think the Google bots really like it because within a week of the new look Big Fish was already a PR5.

As most of you already know the days of waiting on a sample CD in the mail (though still some of like having that hard copy) are soon going to be history with the digital age taking over and BFA is already in place to provide producers and musicians with instant access to some of the hottest samples available.

Now our samples can be downloaded directly from the Loopmasters website. (The days of waiting 2 weeks for the mail to arrive before you can start producing are over!!!)

Loopmasters gives new meaning to the word "distributor". They are always providing the best services and returns for all of their partners/labels. In short they don't beat around the bush. This is probably the main reason why they are so far ahead of the competition. Their reputation is inspecable and they are the leaders of the sampling industry.

#1 Discovery Sound (Japan) (Of course I am going on the list) World renowned for world & ethnic sample cds, but offer a variety of other hard to find sounds and effects. Point of contact is Stephen Hunter because anyone one else would be uncivilized.

#2 Loopmasters Limited (UK) (Really I think they are number one, but this is not a democracy here) Loopmasters started making and selling sample cds before most of us. They have now grown into sample cd distributor giants including an arsenal of artists and labels offering one of the biggest selections of sound available on the net today. Oh did I forget to mention..... everything is downloadable. No more waiting 2 weeks for that CD to come in the mail with just a few clicks of the mouse.

#3 Big Fish Audio (US) BFA is one the United States leading sample cd suppliers and distributors. They have been around for a while and outlasted their rivals over time during the lows and highs of the sample cd business. They offer sample CD packs from producers all over the world and recently have started to implement download into their vocabulary. They are continiously expanding their product line and leaving their mark in history.

#5 Traxsource (US) Traxsource is another big player in the industry. They have only been around since 2003, but their growth is beyond extrordinary. They have literally built a sample cd empire and surpassed quite a few of their seniors in the process. Their library expands faster than any other company today and their statistics speak for themselves. Definitely glad to be onboard with these guys.

#6 TimeSpace (UK) Need I say more? Well most of you already know about this bad boys. (Bad means good) They have been around since since 1995 and continue to set the standard in the sample cd industry. They have a huge selection of samples and as far as "connections" go they probably have the most in that field as well. They are the true sample cd mentors and one of the original "old school" sample suppliers. Notice I didn't include sample CD there. You always give respect where respect is due and TimeSpace definitely get mine.

The didgeridoo is made from cutting a 1-2 meter section of a eucalyptus tree that has been hollowed out by hungry termites.
